Expansion tank is designed to compensate for linear expansion of water. The expansion tank is used depending on the maximum operating         pressure for the elements of the heating system at its lowest point, reduced by the value of the pump pressure and hydrostatic pressure from the      water level in the tank to the lowest point of the system. In a closed expansion tank, the minimum required water pressure is equal to the                   hydrostatic pressure at the level of the tank installation with a certain margin to create excess pressure at the top of the system upwards, which avoids air leakage from the atmosphere and water boiling.
