The flame sensors are one of the following types:
1. Thermocouple: A device made of two different metals which creates a small electrical charge when heated at one end.
2. Thermopile: A probe that contains multiple thermocouples, therefore it can produce a larger electrical current.
3. Electrode sensor: The rod places the same role as thermocouple
Note: many pilot assemblies look different but all function in the same way.
What's ODS?
ODS is designed based on pilot burner with an extra function.
Oxygen depletion sensors (ODS) are commonly found on heaters and fireplaces. The sensor is designed to shut off the gas if the oxygen level in the room drops from 21% (normal air) to 18.5% oxygen by volume or below.
